Eyeglass Recycling

The Colts Neck Lions Club collects used eyeglasses. A used eyeglasses recycling bin is installed in front of the Colts Neck Post Office. Students at Cedar Drive School decorated the bin and painted it bright yellow to distinguish it from the postal boxes. Since the installation, over 1000 pairs of glasses have been deposited. Please place your no longer used eyeglasses in the bin, so that they may be recycled.

The Colts Neck Lions Club participates in Recycle for Sight. Recycle for Sight seeks to raise awareness for the collection and distribution of used eye wear to the needy throughout the world, especially in developing countries.

Lions Clubs have been collecting used eyeglasses for nearly 60 years, and thousands of clubs in North America currently have recycling programs. Throughout the United States and Canada there are literally millions of unused pairs of eyeglasses tucked away in drawers, usually because eyeglass wearers are hesitant to throw away something that has been of great value to them.
